June 15. Hustai National Park
Pick up from the hotel at 9 am and travel to Hustai National Park. After a 2-3-hour drive, arrive at Hustai National Park and lunch at Hustai ger camp. After lunch, we will pay a visit to the small museum of the park and start our excursion into the park for spotting endangered Takhi wild horses grazing peacefully in the wilderness. Transfer to the tourist ger camp where you will stay overnight in the late afternoon.

June 16. Mini-Naadam
Spend the peaceful morning after breakfast. At 10 am experience the fascinating traditions of Mongolian herders by attending Mongol Nomadic program. The nomadic show offers a glimpse into their daily life, including seasonal migrations, livestock milking, and dairy production such as aaruul (dried curds) and airag (fermented mare’s milk). We’ll also see how a traditional ger is transported and learn about felt making, an essential craft in nomadic culture. After the show, we’ll enjoy a delicious Mongolian lunch in a serene countryside setting. In the afternoon, we’ll witness a Mini Naadam Festival, featuring Mongolia’s three traditional sports: horse racing, wrestling, and archery. Watch young jockeys race across the steppe, cheer on wrestlers in action, and admire skilled archers hitting their targets. The event also includes cultural performances and an opportunity to try archery and wear a traditional Mongolian deel. Conclude the day with dinner and overnight at tourist camp.

June 17. Karakorum
Today, our journey leads us to Karakorum, an ancient capital of Great Mongol Empire from 13th century. We will drive through the rolling hills for 5-6 hours with lunch break before reaching Karakorum. Arrive in the afternoon and visit Karakorum Museum displaying the artifacts discovered from Orkhon Valley, the UNESCO’s world heritage site. Next, we will visit legendary Erdenezuu monastery, one of the earliest monasteries founded on the ruins of Karakorum city in 16th century. Afterwards, a short drive to Melkhii Tolgoi hill marking the boundary of the ancient capital and enjoy the scenic view of historical Orkhon Valley. Transfer to the tourist camp, dinner and overnight.

June 18. Ongi Monastery
Today, our journey leads us to Ongi Monastery, located in Dundgobi (middle Gobi region) which marks the start of the Gobi Desert. Our drive stretches to 6 to 7 hours through the rolling hills and finally Gobi steppes before reaching Ongi Monastery ruins. Arrive in the afternoon, check in at the tourist camp and refresh. Later in the afternoon, we will have short walk to the historical Ongi Monastery, offering a poignant glimpse into Mongolia's religious and historical legacy, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at the ger camp.

June 19. Bayanzag- Khongor sand dunes
Awaken early to witness the enchanting sunrise in the heart of the wilderness, followed by a hearty breakfast at the camp. After checking out, embark on a journey to renowned Bayanzag, the Flaming Cliffs, where a visit to the information center provides insights through exhibits and a documentary. Immerse yourself in the wilderness, hiking along designated trails to explore unique natural formations. Lunch awaits at the ger camp before continuing to Khongor sand dunes, traversing vast desert badlands that stretch out to the distant horizons, with remote mountains adorning the skyline. Arrive at our next tourist camp in the Dunes area. We meet a local camel herder and take part in a serene 1-hour camel ride. Climbing to the dunes, we witness the mesmerizing sunset from their summit. Returning to the camp, we enjoy dinner and settle in for the night.

June 20. Yoliin Am Gorge
Today, we embark on a picturesque journey to Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park, a drive that spans approximately four to five hours, allowing us ample opportunities for scenic photography stops along the way. We will have pit stop by the Bayandalai, a small Gobi settlement, for lunch break. Following our lunch break, we’ll embark on a brief drive to reach the enchanting Yolyn Am gorge. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to partake in a one-hour hike from our parking spot, immersing yourself in the breathtaking natural beauty. Eventually, we’ll transfer to the ger camp, where we’ll stay overnight.

June 21. Tsagaan Suvarga
Checking out from the camp after breakfast, we will continue our trip towards Tsagaan Suvarga, a remarkable sedimentary formation that harks back to an ancient seabed. Our expedition includes a pit stop in Dalanzadgad, a charming Gobi town, where we’ll explore the newly constructed Umnugovi province museum. Upon our arrival at the camp, you’ll check in and settle in for a rewarding adventure and savor lunch. We’ll embark on an excursion to the Tsagaan Suvarga scarps, where you can revel in a captivating hike amidst the vibrant cliffs, ascending toward the summit for breathtaking views. After this invigorating exploration, we’ll return to the ger camp to savor a delicious dinner and spend the night in comfort.

June 22. Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast, we depart to Ulaanbaatar in a drive that takes between 6-7-hour with lunch break along the way. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel, marking the end of our service.

Some of our tours do not include hotel stays in Ulaanbaatar, allowing you the flexibility to select a hotel that fits your needs and budget. Outside Ulaanbaatar: Outside of Ulaanbaatar, where hotels are scarce, tourist Ger (yurt) camps provide the ideal accommodation for travelers. A Ger is a traditional Mongolian dwelling made from layers of felt and wooden frames, a design that has served the Mongolian people for thousands of years. These tourist Ger camps offer comfortable accommodations, with each Ger featuring 1-3 beds and quality bedding (1 Ger is equivalent to 1 hotel room). Guests can enjoy well-maintained public western-style showers and restrooms on-site. Some camps also provide en-suite bathroom facilities for an additional fee. MEALS ON SELENA TRAVEL TOURS:
In the capital city of Ulaanbaatar, a great variety of restaurants can be found and you will be eating at some of the best restaurants of Ulaanbaatar on your Mongolia tour while in the capital. Once you are outside the capital, Ger restaurants in Ger camps, local cafes in the small towns and sometimes nomadic families will be the places where you will be eating most of your meal. Ger restaurants often offer set continental breakfasts, set menu lunches and dinners consisting of salad or soup, main course, and dessert.
While on the tour, during your longer driving days you will take a packed lunch from Ger camps, often vegetable salad, main course such as fried chicken/noodles/dumplings and a small dessert, while hitting the road. Most of the food restrictions and allergies such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and many others, can be accommodated with easy on your Mongolia adventure.
LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE ON SELENA TRAVEL TOURS:
When you travelling overland in a vehicle (minivan & jeep), it would be suitable if you have 20 kg luggage per person (max). Please kindly note that domestic flight luggage allowance per person is also 20 kg (15 kg for the check in luggage and 5 for the carry-on luggage). For 1kg extra luggage you pay US$2 - 5.
