Key Updates to China’s Visa-Free Transit Policy

1. Extended Stay Duration
The visa-free transit stay has been significantly extended to 240 hours (10 days), up from the previous 72 or 144 hours. This gives travelers more time to explore China’s rich culture, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cities.

2. New Ports of Entry/Exit
China has added 21 new ports to the list of entry and exit points, making it more convenient for travelers to access visa-free transit.

  • Newly Added Ports: Taiyuan (Shanxi), Wuxi (Suzhou), Huangshan (Anhui), Nanchang (Jiangxi), Zhangjiajie (Hunan), Nanning (Guangxi), Chengdu Tianfu (Sichuan), and more.

3. Eligible Countries
Travelers from 54 eligible countries can now enter China visa-free through any of the 60 open ports across 24 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities). The list includes popular destinations such as Russia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and more.

4. Cross-Province Travel Allowed
Foreign nationals can now travel across permitted areas within the 24 provinces/regions during their visa-free stay, offering greater flexibility and exploration opportunities.
