to picturesque Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve and Mongonmorit.
You will be sailing from Mongonmorit all the way to

The
Kherlen River is one of the biggest
rivers in the Eastern Mongolia within the Pacific
basin. 38 species of fish swim freely within
the crystal clear waters of the Kherlen. The
river takes its origin at the upper part of
the Khentii mountain range and flows to the
south first, and then gradually to the east
and ultimately joins Dalai Lake in China. The
river watershed area is 116455 km.sq and length
of 1090 km in the territory of Mongolia. The
River Kherlen area is full of migratory birds
in summer and it is very beautiful to watch
them in the early morning and evening. The river
is a good place for all kinds of fishing: spinner,
fly fishing etc. with its wonderful and rich
species.
Hucho
Taimen - At one time, the world’s largest
salmonid, the Taimen, lived in the rivers between
Germany and the Pacific coast of Russia. Today,
after centuries of poaching, pollution, and
habitat destruction, the Taimen are making their
last stand in Mongolia. Reaching weights of
200 pounds, the Taimen are one of the world’s
premier freshwater sportsfishes. The Kherlen
River has the Taimen in its water and this trip
gives you a wonderful opportunity to encounter
this mighty salmonid with much ease and without
driving for hours and taking flights to the
north.
Night
Fishing: Fishing at nights is a real
challange for fishermen. The River Kherlen is
an ideal place for night fishing as it is a
quiet, steppe river. You will surely like the

Mongolia: Mongolia is a unique fly-fishing
destination: a land of rolling steppes, rugged
mountains, verdant forest, and pristine rivers.
Our major species are: Salmon (Taimen), Trout,
Pike, Grayling, Sig, River Perch, Siberian Umber,
Roach, Ide, Bull Ide, Golden Carp, Amur Catfish
and Burbot. The Taimen is a particularly ferocious
fish which can often attain weights of 50 kilos
or more. The most attractive fish is the Taimen
(Hucho taimen) that reaches the length of 100-150
cm. The biggest taimen are more than 140 cm
in length. The most common fish is the Siberian
trout or the lenok normally reaching 50 cm,
in some areas even more than 70 cm. Not to be
overlooked is the exquisite dry-fly fishing
for Lenok Trout and Grayling; catches of 30
to 50 in a day are not uncommon. Darkhad Valley
is rich in different species of fish. The river
around camp is a fly fisherman's dream. Kherlen
river has 38 species of fish and Onon, Balj
rivers have 45 species etc. More than 15 rivers
are most famous and convenient to make fly fishing
in Mongolia. Touring in Mongolia is wonderful
and fishing in Mongolia is catch and release
with barb less hooks as it is one of the world's
healthiest and biggest fish population. The
best time of year fly fishing in Mongolia from
June or from very late August, September, October.
