The health care system in Mongolia has been develop during the communism time. Typical of most of the ex-soviet states, and has been deteriorated once Russian administration and funding was removed.
With the arrival of foreigner and investment in Mongolia several clinic and private hospital opened. Most of them are equiped with good and new medical equipment.
No specific requirements are stated for Mongolia by the WHO, currently. However, all visitors should ensure that they see their doctors before their Mongolia tours, and come to Mongolia with suitable medical insurance, and sufficient medical supply if they are intaking any.
And there are no immunisations required for entry into Mongolia, apart from rabies if you love petting dogs.
For any emergency numerous good hospitals are available in the capital and other major provincial centers such as the South Gobi etc. Selena Travel is cooperating with S.O.S Medica for any case of emergency.
In most of the private hospital you will have some doctor who speak english maybe studied abroad too. Doctor has usually a different view of sickness and health here depending where they studied in Mongolia or abroad. Psychology and sociology work with patient is not current here. You may have to ask to get explanation and information as well as a better understanding.
Mongolia Water Quality
Water quality in Mongolia is relatively good compared to other Asian countries. Many visitors have drunk tap water without boiling or treating it and have had no problems.
However, drinking bottled mineral water is recommended in Mongolia and bottled water supply is good everywhere in the country.
