Objectives of Mongolian
Death Worm expedition:
Destination: The Gobi Desert Mongolia
- The most mysterious place on earth. This trip takes
place in the land that is rich in fossilized dinosaur
skeletons, eggs and remains of ancient people that
lived in the period of neolithe. Also the land features
world endangered and rare animals, plants, beautiful
nature of Mongolian Gobi Desert.
When: Expedition will start from
July 25 to August 10, 2005. Total 16 days/15 nights
What is Olgoi khorkhoi? A legend
about the dangerous and mysterious animal "Olgoi
Khorkhoi" travels among the natives from mouth
to mouth for centuries. "Olgoi khorkhoi"
means "intestine worm", the natives named
that animal from its appearance. Russian and Czech
scientists, who travelled in the Gobi desert saw this
animal and informed the world publishing very interesting
materials on newspapers and magazines for several
times.
Olgoi khorkhoi is described as a worm, which is about
2 feet long, with no head, thick and darkish red colored
animal. It is belived to have abilities to kill living
beings from distance by its natural electricity. Although
it might be mythical but the natives are very scared
of this animal. Until today there is no scientific
document or evidence about the Death Worm. In other
hand, it is awaiting for us, researchers and adventurers.
Group size: 17 participants ( Inviting
12 participants from all over the world)
Expedition Leader: A famous scientist
in reptile research field will lead the expedition.
He works in the Department of Biology, Mongolian National
University.
Deputy Leader: J.Batbold (Ph.D in
Biology)
Organizers: The expedition is organized
jointly by scientists and researchers from Department
of Biology, Mongolian National University and Selena
Travel LLC.
