Arrival
in Ulaanbaatar, city sightseeing – Mongon
Morit. Our guide will meet us at the airport.
Welcome lunch at a fine Mongolian restaurant.
Visit the Gandan monastery, the museum of National
History and the Chinggis Khaan monument on the
Sukhbaatar Square. Then we drive out of the town
for 2.5 hours, transfer to tourist camp. |

Mongon
Morit. We start the horse trek today riding for
some 30-35 km in the wilderness. We ride in the
mountains of Mongon Morit, with lunch cooked by
your cook on the way. |

Burkhan
Haldun Mountain. Today we reach the Burkhan Haldun
mountain, a sacred mountain of Genghis Khaan in
the late afternoon. Visit the mountain, hiking.
Hear your guide telling the story of Genghis Khaan’s
early years. |

Burkhan
Haldun mountain. Today is a rest day in the beautiful
mountain, horseback riding in the mountain. Meals
cooked by your cook and camping in the wilderness.

Burkhan
Haldun – Khar Zurkhen. We ride our horses
to the Khar Zurkhen Lake, where the Genghis Khaan
was crowned as the Khaan of the Mongols. We will
cross the River on horseback riding and it’s
an exciting experience! |

Khar Zurkhen
Hoh Lake. We will reach the Khar Zurkhen Hoh Lake
in the afternoon. Transfer to tourist camp. Rest
and take shower. Visit the amazing lake and see
the place, where the Mongols had the big feast
for the Khaan’s coronation. Day 8 is for
leisure, ride around the place. |

Khar Zurkhen
– Baganuur. We continue the ride down to
the south toward the amazing Gun-Galuut Nature
Reserve via the Baganuur village, one of the biggest
coal mining town of Mongolia. The scenery is hilly
steppes now. We ride along the river Kherlen.
The Kherlen is one of the three rivers that make
the Valley of the Three Rivers. |

Gun-Galuut.
We reach the Gun-Galuut in the afternoon. Transfer
to Steppe Nomads tourist camp, rest. Swimming
and fishing in the River Kherlen, leisure time.
Enjoy traditional Mongolian dinner Khorkhog. |

Rest day
in Gun-Galuut. Gun-Galuut is located in the valley
of the river Kherlen on the westernmost edge of
the Great Mongolian steppes. Hiking to Mt. Baits
to view Argali wild sheep and other wild animals.
Visit a nomadic family to get basic introduction
about nomadic way of life. Optional fishing and
kayaking on the River Kherlen. |

Gun-Galuut
Nature Reserve – Giant Genghis Monument
- Ulaanbaatar. After breakfast we drive back to
Ulaanbaatar for 2 hours with a stop at Giant Genghis
Monument and transfer to hotel. Then we visit
the Bogd Khaan’s Palace Museum and the Buddha
Park. Enjoy a traditional folklore concert with
farewell dinner in the evening. |

Mt.
Burkhan Haldun: This beautiful mountain
is a place where the Great Khaan used to hide
from rival tribes when he was young. Later he
worshipped the mountain for saving his life
thrice and this mountain has been sacred for
over 800 years. The mountain is located the
1.2 million hectare Khan Khentii Strict Protected
Area established in 1992. Burkhan Haldun is
considered the most sacred mountain in Mongolia,
because it was first designated as sacred by
Chinggis Khaan. The mountain is rich in archaeological
history, with over 800 burial sites identified
by archaeologists.
Khar
Zurkhen Khokh Lake is the place, where
Genghis Khaan was given the honorary title “Genghis
Khan” meaning the “Oceanic King”
and enthroned as the Khaan of the Mongols in
1189. In the Secret History of the Mongols,
it is written “After they enthroned Temujin
as the Khaan, they held a big feast and danced
and sang till the morning”. Khar Zurkhenii
Khokh Lake means “Black Lake of the Blue
Heart” and people say that this name was
given in the 12th century.
Khan
Khentii Mountains is the native land
of Genghis Khan and contains many important
historical and cultural sites. The park is landscape
of transition from Siberian taiga forest to
grass steppe. Khan Khentii Mountain National
Park is one of the Mongolian natural and historical
treasures, declared by UNESCO as world heritage
site. Khan Khentii is covered with forests,
taiga, and mountain forest steppe. It is the
land described in The Secret History of Mongols,
a literary monument of the nation, and is a
protected area.
Gun-Galuut
NR is one of the most popular nature
reserves of Mongolia. The Reserve is truly the
marvelous combination of high mountains, colorful
flowers, pretty lakes, rivers and wetlands with
its famous rare species. It is a home to endangered
wild Mountain sheep-Argali the Big Horns, White-napped
crane, Siberian White Crane, Hooded Crane and
the rare Black stork, Asian heron, Whooper swan,
Swan Goose and so on. Over 80 Argali sheep inhabit
peacefully in Gun-Galuut now. Tourists visiting
the Nature Reserve have the opportunities to
do watching and taking photos of the Endangered
species, rafting and fishing in the lakes and
rives, camping in a beautiful and peaceful nature,
visiting nomadic family, riding horse, yak and
camel and introducing with traditional nomadic
